Did Dennis open up the west GOM?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Did Dennis open up the west GOM?

#1 Postby corpusbreeze » Mon Jul 11, 2005 3:36 pm

Looking at the models especially my favorite, the nogaps, :D it looks like Dennis sitting where it is for a few days will strengthen the ridge west in a few days thus opening the west GOM. Not saying td#5 will hit Texas, just that it could a least bring in some tropical moisture to dry as a bone Texas.

I thought that they would actually weaken the ridge not strenghten it. Is this true or am I wrong?

It will only be after Dennis fizzles out that the high will build back west.

I was looking at the SST in the GOM this morning and the western gulf is cooking. If a cane does manage to make its way into the western gulf headed towards Texas then look out. The stage is set for a very intense hurricane in Texas if the stearing pattern allows it......MGC
