Next 24 hours of forecasts - NHC's trial by fire

#1 Postby TPACane04 » Thu Jul 07, 2005 4:06 pm

I would venture a guess to say that the next 24 hours of forecasts could be the most crucial in NHC history.

WHY?

You have a building storm, already at Cat 3, poss chance at Cat 4 in Gulf.

You have a potential impact on significant poulation areas: Naples/Ft Myers, Tampa Bay, Panhandle, Mobile, NO

You have a landfall "line change" of 60+ miles in the past 12 hours of landfall poss (Mobile, now east of Pensacola)

Now a 50 mile swing either way is HUGE for FL (as 5pm discussion states) and will determine potential need for evacs throughout the FL coast to NO area.

Now is the time for NHC to earn their stripes...good luck guys.

Great post ,and your right many major cities "can be affected. It is unusual for there to be so many scenarios at this point.

My gut (and not my avatars gut) feeling this whole time has been a similiar track to Ivan. I've posted anywhere between Mississippi to Florida panhandle. I just DON'T want it to hit the Mobile area. They aren't even cleaned up from Ivan. Anywhere from Mobile to Pensacola does NOT deserve a Hurricane.

But who does? :(

I agree, with family in that entire area, I don't want them to go through it again. Mobile faired EXTREMELY well with Ivan though, My mother lives off out Dauphin Island and only lost power for awhile. Unfortunately, My Grand Mother in Law in Gulf Shores and my Mother in Law in Perdido where hit very hard.

I'm by no means and expert, but I'm going with a Destin to PCB hit. It might be a little -removed- though, since I absolutely don't want Dennis near my family.

Ain't that the truth?? The people across the street from us still have a huge pile of debris that Fema won't pick up. The people called Fema several times, but nothing has been done about it!!
I dread it!!!
