I have a question on this satellite view. That swoop from east us down through atlantic and back up where its all black and no convection. Is that the ridge that through arlene northwest instead of northeast? Just a ?. Weve gotten so many bands of thunderstorms here in tampa and it looks like a line from a tropical system on are radar everyday. And looks like its all right on the edge of this ridge. Thanks in advance.

As it always happens strong subsidence with very dry air is located west of an upper low and in this case it's occuring. The upper low is retrograding slowly westward. It is not common to see tropical development from an upper low as it takes days to reach the surface if it does so at all.
