Which one are you?

#1 Postby Stormcenter » Fri Jun 10, 2005 3:18 pm

O.K. let's see there are some on this board who live in AL,MS, or LA. who believe Arlene in moving NNW or NW and will strike somewhere in those states. Then we have those on this board who live in Florida who believe she is moving due north and will strike somewhere in Florida. Can we just have her skirt all 4 coastlines and make everyone happy?

I dont live in either, and I say (like NHC) that its heading N (360) or slightly off center (355).

should not matter where you live, I live in Florida, so whether it his MS or FL Panhandle, the weather is the same for me....a few showers...and HUMID.....so FL AL MS, really dont concern me...just be prepared if you live on any of the coastline in the watch/warning area

I am in florida and will say its moving due North. Not a wish, but backed up by NHC which is pretty good Co. For those that think Floridians were wishing storms their way....they were right, they did come to Fl. We suffered and didnt want them!

When you get 3 storms, you know the difference between a wish, and down right dread! Enough said!

They always goto Florida.. It's pretty simple really. When they storm spins it causes a positve magnetic field. And with everyone if Florida being so negative  it causes a negative magnetic field. Thus they attract ,simple hurricane 101...

I'm in Alabama, but I'm 200 miles inland. My opinion of a landfall near Ivan's landfall(AL/FL border) is not -removed-, it's my best guess.

Good guess, IMO maybe as far west as MS coastline but that's it.

Im in Biloxi Ms and from what I can tell on the vis sat loop it sure looks to be moving mostly north... I can't argue with 355 to 360 degrees motion... at the moment... not to say it won't start a NNW motion later today as suggested by the NHC, but that has not happened yet as of the latest sat loops I looked at...

I still stick with mobile to pensacola. It is moving due north 360 at this time. But im on the west coast so no wishcastinghere bc I know its not possible to come my way. Just a couple gusts lots of tornadoes and some rain.

These posts are stupid. You are putting everyone in a category.

I already said Mississippi. Everyone knows the worst of the weather will be felt in Florida.

Just cause you read a few people from Louisiana say it's going their way or a few from Florida doesn't mean we all do. And who knows for sure anyway? What if is hits Louisiana or Florida?

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at1+shtml/151226.shtml?swath?large This also kinda shows a due north wind swath so, so far Id really have to go with due north for the moment or at least thats what shes been moving anyway

On a serious note though.. considering how close the boarders are between FL and LA, you know all 4 states are probably going to feel this storm, even if it's just outer edges. Sometimes I think we all forget how big they are while focusing on the very center/eye. In that aspect, none of them are really wrong.

I mean it's not like last year at least yet where peeps were screaming NC when it was obvious the storm was going to FL.

Well, I am from Alabama and would love for Arlene to just go away-- that's my wishcast. But since we must, alas, live in the real world, I am afraid it's going to be a very close call for us along the AL Gulf Coast. :(
