Arlene - 40kts

#1 Postby James » Fri Jun 10, 2005 3:57 am

Arlene has been upped to 40kts it seems. It's great to have recon to be able to give the facts rather than an estimate.

Actually, that 40 kts IS an estimate. The NHC discussion says that the 56kt 850mb FL wind of 56 kts would support 40 kts at the surface, but observations don't support 40 kts. NHC just thinks there MUST be 40 kt winds somewhere at the surface, they just can't find them. Arlene needs to move her center somewhere near the convection.

But it is good to have them flying around in there.

I don't log on for a couple of days and then this happens......

9am GMT discussion puts Arlene at 55kts in 48 hours time.
