Be ready and safe.

In case of a minor storm, throw a big party. If stronger, then wait to party for Bret. :)

My father lives in Ocean Springs, and he has already called. Calling for around 45-50 knots at landfall.

weak Cat 1 not that big a deal... probably have tides of 5-7 feet max... could cause some minor problems with low lying coastal areas... would also present some problems to the casino on the east side of Biloxi, if the center hits to the west of the city, Long Beach or Gulfport... it takes an 8.5 foot tidal surge to even put the water at the base of the seawall in front of my house by the mall... you can be sure that the bull eye for this system will change with each passing model run...

It's not going to be above a strong TS, so it's just a reminder of things to come.

Will come my way also. Hope my big old pine tree will not fall into my house this year. It stood thru Erin, Opal and Ivan. We will see. Hubby and I have been talking about cutting it down, but we have been lazy on finding someone to take care of it.

Early June vs. Late July = big difference.

Not so sure about the "no big deal", Frank. We've had lesser surges put a major hurtin' on those casino barges - putting a lot of folks out of work for at least a few days. And when you're making minimum wages, every hour counts!! But I absolutely agree on the bulls eye changing. Still a lot of water to cross...

Already got one planned, a pal in Bay St. Louis is planning on having Italian night on Saturday. He lives about a block from the bay. :hoola:

hey I did say it WOULD present some problems for the casinos... you put 5-7 feet of water on the east end of town, Point Cadet and the casinos, some of em will be shut down for a while.... Treasure Bay also subject to some damage from this level of surge.... but all in all a weak cat 1 still not that bad overall in the grand scheme of things....

Treasure Bay almost gets damage from high tides.
