Lets keep in mind a lot of individuals on here..including myself have a basic knowledge and experience with tropical systems. The goal of this site and message board is to be a friendly enviornment for experts and novices alike.. I hope we never have a member afraid of asking a question because they are in fear of being laughed at.. It is the duty of the experts and those with more knowledge than most to respect the curiosity and yearning for knowledge that all us novices have. Thanks for your time and help in making this "The Best Board On The Net!!

Sincerely

You can be assured that there will be no demeaning or the like of anyone for asking any question about the weather on this board!!! I assure you that all of the forecasters will do their very best to answer the questions of other members of this community!! And anyone who does try to make someone feel embarassed for asking a question will SUFFER MY WRATH!!!! :grrr: :grrr: :grrr:

My motto, and I mean this sincerely is "THERE IS NO STUPID QUESTION UNLESS IT ISN'T ASKED!"

how many professionals are really in here? I would assume 99% of us are just novices, am I correct?

So far there is only one on the site that I know of that is truly a professional forecaster(retired) and that is ASLkahuna. I am in contact with another active professional forecaster that has agreed to help and hope to have at least one more. I do have another friend that I can use just about anytime I want to get answers to questions is active NWS, but who will not be posting here.

Overall I see three names in our memberlist that I know are professionals, whether in government service or private weather, so I guess that comes to 1.53% of the membership is professional forecasters. Getting them to find the time to post here is another thing though!

I agree, but word it a bit different "There are no stupid questions, just stupid people" JUST KIDDING  I for one have had my share on 'Interesting' questions.

I'm paid to research TC's (at UM-RSMAS). Right now, the forecasting is in addition to the research, which is my primary concern

Excellent point, Jonathan. We shall see what sort of questions are asked. I tend not to have any, at least nothing comes to mind.

Since tornaodoes are my specialty, I am sure I will be asking many questions about hurricanes.
