SST forecast from CPC

#1 Postby MGC » Sun May 01, 2005 9:11 pm

This forecast is nearly a month old but it looks very favorable for an interesting Cape Verde season. SST should be cooking in the MDR. Nino 1+2 region should cool after current Kevin Wave dissipates......MGC

The thing I instantly looked for was the EPAC forecast cold and colder. If this holds coastlines MIGHT need to look out.Time and patience will tell.

Yep...exactly my take after looking at that image. The extreme warmth in the Caribbean and most of the Atlantic does stand out at first...but the EPAC...in the ensembles...looks to be on the cool side of neutral. Not quite a La Nina...but cool enough.

If that even comes close to verifying then the season should be an active one at least. Especially so for folks in the Caribbean.

This is a big month to watch the progression or lack thereof of Nino. I have a feeling things will start to cool down in another 10 days or so as the cooler water behinf the current k-wave mixes in.
