I heard something like this before but just read this on my son's school website ...

"In 10 minutes, a hurricane releases more energy than all of the world's nuclear weapons combined."

Yep, that's exactly what Homestead looked like after Andrew went through. Wow :o

Yes isobar a powerful hurricane can release tones of energy especially cat 4 and 5.And different from tornadoes that cover a not big area hurricanes are in general more than 300 miles in diameter but in some cases are bigger such as gilbert was in 1988.
