No kidding. I must have spaced on the cold front cause I didn't even know there was one in the area. We've been dealing with that ULL for the last 2 days here. It rained (believe it or not) all evening and pretty hard this morning. Metairie Rd. area had a bunch of standing water on it when I dropped my oldest off at middle-school.

I guess it's getting to be almost that time of year where stalled fronts need to be watched for low pressure formation.

Would love to see a something develop - like a tropical wave and move inland to give us some rain. As MF said - anticipation - I still think its too early in the season.

It sure is weird how New Orleans and points east can be getting drenched by rains for the past several days now and we haven't received a drop in Lafayette for weeks and weeks! We should all watch the gulf now but I think its a little too early for development.

Too early for development especially with the dry air there in the GOM but keep an eye to that tail end just in case.

I'm watching the low pressure developing along the cold front over eastern Louisiana (at 1015mb/29.97 in.). It looks like a "developing front" in terms of it's current configuration. :)

This low is forecast to move from its current position (eastern Louisiana) to the southern Mid-Atlantic coast area. There is a chance of a surface low developing over the Gulf with this system?

I do notice the convection (showers and thunderstorms) developing east of New Orleans, over the extreme northern Gulf of Mexico... I assume the low pressure area could develop over the water with the parent low moving northeastward; further inland [as I mentioned above].

Hello Velma... glad you got some rain from the low pressure and frontal system. I am watching this feature moving toward we, have about 60 rain chances in the next couple days.

I believe I remember you from the Storm98 chatroom when I was living in Massachusetts with only sporadic internet access. (from a computer lab at the state college in the town I lived in).

Dust Bre - try cracks in the ground that you can fall it - its that bad here. I'm gonna hate to see my next water bill for watering my garden. Things are drying up fast - grass has even slowed down growing - like Chad said one time - its crunchy as you walk on it.

FURRY do you dance - Girl - send us some rain!

Thanks breeze...I wish you could share with us. It's so dry here!

So far, rainfall for the month of May has only been .01" in Beaumont. The driest May on record was 0.10" in 1978. It appears that we unfortunately will have a good chance of setting a new record this year.
