To Clarify a little on what we are looking for:

For those that are not aware the RADIO.NHCWX network (owner DrOliver) is the network that hosts all your favorite weather shows, such as The Talkin'Tropics show and the Barometer Bob Show. This up coming season we will also be adding Storm2k Tropical Updates to the stations Line up. Accepted Volunteers will be responsable for reading the Tropical Updates and recording them (we will supply you with the software needed) You will however have to have a mic and or headset with mic combo. These updates will then be streamed across the internet via the Radio.NHCWX network. Its a great way to get involved and help keep all our listeners in the "Know"

S2K Tropical Update Format

We need 8-10 people to host the daily tropical updates on Radio NHCWX. We need to have 2 people to share each time slot and 2 alternates.

You will be required to read the Official National Hurricane Center Information that is given out. 1 hour after it is released. Each update will take ~ 5 minutes, however if the tropics get busy, an update could take as long as 15 minutes (this would be rare)

We will supply each host with the software to accomplish the recordings in a professional manner. You will be given special privileges such as your own virtual office space, archive section, team speak server and web page.

The Time slots will be as follows:
6am
Noon
6pm
Midnight

The procedures are straight forward you will use a program to actually stream to the server to a private port. At the same time you will record that stream. Once you are happy with the recording you will then upload to the server via FTP. We will supply all required software and will help with installation.

Also we would like some or all of the S2K update hosts to help out in the daily 8pm LIVE S2K Tropical Update/Analysis Show which will stream from 8:00pm – 8:30pm
We are hoping we can get S2K forecasters to be the lead host for this show.

If you are interested please PM me with the following information:

Time Slot
If you will help out on the 8pm Show
Internet connection and ISP
Type of operating system your computer runs on

We also would love to have these updates done in Spanish!

Thanks,
Steve O.

Excellent!

Just pick a time slot and the days you can do it! The updates will run as long as the NHC is issuing updates.

Depending on my work schedule I should be able to help out. Im sure I can help the only question is what times. On my days off..typically Monday and Thursday, I can fill any slot.

Excellent George what we will have to do is wait and see what is leftover or if someone can do the 5 days you can't,then you could pair together .But we can work you in somewhere on those days.PM me with your details.

I can help out if needed. Former radio experience, lector, etc. Work and home on same premises so fairly flexible on times. My goal is to have live weather and video before start of season on my website.
