tropical development off NC?
Curious about what everyone is thinking about this developing storm e of Cape Hatteras?

Does look interesting on Sat pix. More than likely a hybrid system. It is over the Gulf Stream and has a good sat presentation. WOuld be interesting to get core obs on this. Should head off toward the maritimes quickly. Also noticed that the flow split, and there are clouds and showers that got left behind between Miami and Cuba

Consensus is extratropical but looks nice on pics and models were right on this to develop off the carolina coast but no ingredients of warm core to become tropical as a trough will absorb it.

It was neat to track the northwest portion of this feature as it paralleled the United States coastline from off the North Carolina coast to off the New England coast.
At 1:45am ET you can see northwestern portion of the rain shield on the Taunton NWS radar; precipitation several miles off "Cape Cod and the Islands" (as we New Englander's call it..... Martha's Vineyard is the island to the west-northwest of Nantucket).
In the last couple hours, the latest IR satellite loop indicated the westernmost clouds associated with this system and a narrow band clouds associated with the showers from what were thunderstorms over western New England during Friday afternoon... were over Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts, including my relatives currently live and where I used to live.

Just for kicks, look at the 18z GFS for day 16 
Shows 3 low pressure systems: One off the Florida coast; one near se Cuba; another near Hispaniola. Some convective feedback here, but damn thats near the 20th of May. Models have been trying to lower pressures there in the long range (near Cuba/DR). Will the fun start early 8)
