As with all islands Saturday is the big day at the airport.....at Bermuda the airport runway is oriented 12-30 ie one way down it is 120 degrees and the other way is 300. There is only the one runway for the entire island....no second airport no second runway. As a result aircraft flying to BDA have to carry enough fuel to fly to the island...hold for 30 mins....and fly to the nearest open airport which is normally Wilmington North Carolina without refueling. Today could see a lot of that as 96l brings gale force winds to the island right now at 060 degrees at 22kts gusting 35kts...which will be close to if not exceeding commericial jets crosswind capability.
