Please strap Christiane Amanpour to a palm tree for the reports. I would pay to see that.

Fox News has been having fairly good coverage-just had Max Mayfield on. Each time I switch to CNN or MSNBC they are having the political "stuff" on. Needed abreak from TWC-same thing over and over. Fox is getting ready to go live to NO.

Is TWC going to have Jim Cantore or Mike Seidel in Pensacola beach or Mobile?

The Weather Channel is saying "we'll have live updates as long as it's safe." Hello- hurricanes aren't safe! Either provide reporting or don't. I don't recall Edward R. Murrow saying during the 1940 London blitz "This ... is London. As long as it's safe."

If she's out in the middle of a Cat 4 - she will go - flying away!

I hope these reports have the sense to realize that reporting outside during a Cat 4 landfall is a bad idea...

TWC probably means as Ivan gets more inland Atlanta (TWC HQ) may start feeling some effects later tomorrow. May also indicate that they don't want to jeopardize the safety of Jim, Janine, Stephanie and Mike.

Indeed - the NHC actually issued a report last week stating that the safest place to be during a hurricane is "anywhere within 5 feet of Jim Cantore."

When I see these reporters, I often think of how as a child they scared the bejaysus out of use with pictures of 2x4s that had become missiles. The lesson, of course, was pretty simple -- "Don't go out in a hurricane".

So I see these windblown people in raincoats, I always chant, "C'mon ... 2x4! .... 2x4! .... 2x4! ..."

(and it never happens)

The "mother" of all live reports will always be Dan Rather's report from Destin during Opal. Dude was getting blown away! I recall my family eating supper when he came on the screen and we all started laughing hysterically. There's just something about Dan Rather that makes you want to see him get blown around by a hurricane.
