Reason why Ivan will not do a Lili...

Lili had more time to weaken... Ivan does not.

I wouldn't say time has anything to do with it. A hurricane can absolutely fall apart in under 9 hours if conditions were to suddenly become unfavorable.

its unlikely.....but lili did her weakening from that pic (man she was strong....unbelievable) to cat 2 in about 6 hours

i have family in south of lafayette and was begging them to get out....they still dont know how lucky they were....they talk about how bad it was.....

I really dont think Ivans gonna fall apart. He went through the gulf and remained as a Major hurricane, and its not that likely he will suddenly buck that trend as he nears the coast. Ivan really is the terrible.

he didnt say it wouldnt fall apart he is only pointing out distance. it in fact has less time to fall apart because there is less real estate to work with. good post floydbuster

Lili was able to weaken as quickly as it did because of the fact that it was the most poorly organized cat 4 in history. The eye wall was never closed and hurricane winds were only on the eastern semi-circle. To the SW, the maximum winds according to H-Wind were only 60KT. Extremely lopsided to say the least
