Because of the extreme flooding (although not as bad as Allison in 2001), do y'all think Gaston will be retired as a tropical storm?
Or even do y'all think in post-storm analysis Gaston will be bumped up to Hurricane Status like Kate was last year? It looked awfully well organized to be a tropical storm.

I think this may become Subtropical, maybe not fully tropical, though. It's somewhat organized, but the circulation is an upper-level low. It has a while to go to get to the surface. Besides, by the time it could get tropical, Ivan will probably pull it into its circulation. Still needs to be watched. It is the prime of the season...
