Purpose: I am starting to see a trend for members arguing over whether Ivan will landfall in
eastern Florida or western Florida. I hope that if members read this they will think twice
about denouncing a fellow member.
Note: If your post an opinion that you know is against the norm, please qualify it with stats and
observations that are reasonable and logical. Then no one can justify any flames.
Observation: I joined storm2k right in the middle of the NC/FL debate over Frances’s track,
and thought it was strange how SOME members from one state opposed other members
who were against any track that did not include the above mentioned members’ area
in the forecast (I know most attacks were for unsubstantiated opinions).
Note :I for one got caught up in this behavior, and unfortunately it took views from other
members to realize that I was wrong for attacking someone else.
However: I see that this behavior happens all over. Yesterday I joined a local (New Orleans) forum.
In it, one member posted a poll for where they thought Ivan would make landfall. There was a
eastern outlier of Destin, FL and a western outlier of Lake Charles, LA, with every other guess around
the New Orleans area.
Conclusion: It is a given that all of us on this board are weather enthusiasts and are fascinated by these
powerful storms. I think an analogy would be why people like watching horror films. The danger of an
approaching storm stimulates the body to release adrenalin (Probably why none of us can sleep) which
in turn causes the brain to release endorphins, which are the pleasure inducing hormone secreted by
the brain (Probably why we can’t get away from this site).
Disclaimer: This post is not indicative of all (Not even most) members. If you take offense to the above,
then you know it’s not meant for you.
Keep the good info and qualified opinions coming and flames out, Paul

I certainly don't want it hitting Ga; my family is down there. I don't want it hitting anyone.
I think the mods were clear on the rules during the Frances discussion and they will do their jobs when needed. No further analysis is really needed on this...

everyone wants the hurricane to hit them and if they live in an area in the "cone" they always say its going to hit them
WHY do people continue to believe this MYTH!?! Everybody does NOT feel this way. There are tons of people on this board trying to gain insight to make decisions about whether to evacuate or not, and when, and how to best take care of and protect family members, including elderly relatives that may or may not live with them, pets, expensive property, and so on.
It drives me crazy to see people who think that everybody wants the storm to come their way. This kind of thinking is flat-out WRONG.
