Good news for Florida residents!!

Here is a bit of good news for those about to have an anxiety attack because of the lastest NHC forecast track. Below is a excerpt from the 11pm discussion.

Ivan has nudged a little to the left during the evening and the
initial motion is now 290/15.

Why no explanation as to why Ivan did this? If you have a few more these "left nudges" there is NO way Ivan will make landfall in Florida.
I'm not sold on this track. I know I'm probably in the minority that believe this but I just don't buy it.

I'm not sure it's going to hit that part of Florida...Ivan is going to have to slow down some before it makes these kinds of turns north this soon.

I am in Louisiana and definitely don't want ANY hurricane, no matter how big or how small. If I lived in Florida I would be a basket case. My prayers go to everyone there...but the post is right on the money. If Ivan continues to have a little nudge here and there, it will be somewhere other than Floridas problem. Just hope it's not Louisiana's.

I can't help but to jump in here because I've seen several of your post and while you're not coming out and saying Floridians are -removed- this you seem to infer it. Let me assure you of something if you had been thru Charley and or Frances you would not want it coming your way but a sense of reality starts setting in. I'm seeing a lot of the sense of excitment I use to have. Trust me - now having to prespare for potentially a 3rd one, there is an extrme amount of anxiety, physical and mental fatigue. If you think this is fun and that Floridians somehow think it would be fun to have another you couldn't be further from the truth.

I live in Louisiana and I don't want the storm and I honestly don't think it's going to come this far West. I think it will likely hit the panhandle of Florida or plow straight into the Yucatan. It's more likely to hit the panhandle of Florida, IMO, and it will be alot weaker than it is now--there'll be more influences of dry air and sheer by the time it gets to the Northern Gulf of Mexico.

Caneman I apologize if I offended you or anyone else on this board this did not pertain to. I do believe some posters on this board from Florida are -removed- or maybe just "excited" about the possibility of Ivan making landfall there. But the SAME can be said of some posters from Texas, LA, NC, SC,AL, & MS. Again my apologies.

No problem I can't speak for everyone in Florida but nobody I know in FLorida will even talk about Ivan cause they just can't handle the thought. In fact, when the local weather guy mentions it to the newcasters the newcasters make it clear that they don't even want to think or hear about it. Of course, they may have to by tomorrow. Wish you the best.

The Florida panhandle doesn't want it! I can't afford to pay my 2% hurricane deductible on damages right now, not to mention that I don't want to suffer the oppressive heat and humidity without air conditioning. I think most of us have seen the news footage from South Florida of tired hot people waiting in long lines for ice.

There is a sort of adrenaline rush watching a storm approach - not unlike the feeling you get as you crawl up the incline on a really good roller coaster. When the storm takes a turn and just misses you or only slightly brushes your area, you come out of it rather exhilarated...again much like after a roller coaster ride. However, when it actually comes right at you ... it is like you look down that roller coaster drop ...... and 20 feet of track is simply gone. It isn't exhilarating anymore it is terrifying! You can only hope you have prepared well enough to be able to jump those missing pieces of track.

I understand the thrill of tracking storms - I too am addicted, but with a new perspective.

I hate to say it, but yes. Any place but central/south FLorida. They cant handle another. Out of the last 30 days or so my sister has had power for 10 of them. Today the power company told here it'd be at least a week more before she gets it back this time. They've missed over 2 weeks of work, not to mention the structural damage to the beautiful cities down there. I would never wish a hurricane on anyone else, but I'd rather it be someplace else (Out to sea would be best!) then there.

Bradenton, FL -- on the south face of Tampa Bay -- has made out pretty
easily so far. Charley barely amounted to a cloudy day for us, and Frances really only qualified as a nuisance Tropical Storm (usual fare around here) --
trees down here and there, but no heavy rainfall and relatively few left without power. A few more lost cable, but that's hardly catastrophic.

But the 11pm track brings to mind a quote from that classic of classics,
"Friday the 13th", when the crazy old geezer warns the nubile camp
counselors of their coming fate:

"You're Doomed, I tell ya.....Dooooooomed"

Man, it looks like Ivan's gonna give Bradenton the treatment... what do
you think? (Sensationalism welcome.)

Oh, and anyone got any spare D batteries? Can't get 'em for love or
money areound here...

St. Petersburg here, and I have to say, no D batteries here either, going shopping tommorow, I'll get extra if I see them.....lets stand out side and blow this thing away from us because its too close and I can't stand the thought of evacuating again, although the last time was futile, I just can't picture having to do this a third time...

I dont think any of us here in the Western Gulf - or any place else, for that matter - really WANT to see a powerful storm like Ivan knocking on our door. I do think that many of us want to see Florida catch a break after the mess you have had to deal with in the past month or so. Please dont be insulting - we are wishing the best for a group of people who have had a lot to deal with lately - thats called SYMPATHY, not -removed-!
