This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

the Atlantic City casinos faced a strike by Local 54 which represents bartenders, beverage servers, waiters and waitresses, cooks, housekeepers, and public area attendants. Floyd also came for a visit. Fortunately, the strike only lasted 2 1/2 days. Those of us that were salaried and non-union had to fill in for those positions (not fun, but you could appreciate the hard work that they did).

Next week we are facing the same dilemma. Could Ivan be our next Floyd???

...and we here on the MS Coast might be facing the same kind of issue. Unfortunatly, if a "Floyd" hits here, our casinos are OUT OF BUSINESS - for a very long time.....

Your casinos are really palying with fire there!

We here in AC would have a major problem as well if a Cat 3 or higher ever visited this way. Most of the casinos are along the boardwalk.

Hell Treasure Bay Casino has lost it's moorings 2 out of 2 times with TROPICAL STROMS not even Hurricanes.I think that is how they will get land based casinos just land the that little barge on the N side of HWY 90.

We will have land based casinos after the next big hurricane. First, all of the casinos down here are built on top of barges and float. So, as the storm surge come in it will lift them onto Hwy 90. Just like Camille did with some ocean going ships. Since the local economy will be destroyed for a good while along with no tax revenue, I'm sure the legistature up in Jackson will change the law for the coastal counties.......MGC
