48 hour forecast error....

#1 Postby MGC » Wed Sep 01, 2004 6:25 pm

The 48 hour NHC forecast track error is still left of track by one degree , reflecting a faster than expected forward speed. On Aug 30th, Frances was forecast to be near 22.0N, 70.0W. Actual: 22.0N, 71.0W. Frances has been tracking left of forecast by a degree or less in both longitude and latitude which represents a 48 hour track error of 60NM or less. So far, I think the NHC has done a good job forecasting Frances. I'm still calling for landfall between West Palm Beach and Jacksonville. Space Coast is the bullseye for Frances......MGC
