Remember a Cat 5 storm can build its own environment

If Frances gets to Cat 5 strength in the bahamas, she might resist any weakness and continue moving west north west.

Floyd was picked up by a big trough, not a weakness.

I think the models may be underestimating this tendancy of large powerful hurricanes and Florida will be in big trouble when the projected turn doesn't happen.

Remember how Floyd gave everyone a huge scare in South Florida when it didn't turn as soon as forecasters said it would?

Actually what I remember about Floyd is the Florida W___c___ers insisting Floyd wasn't going to turn at all, and plow straight into Florida, because of the strong hurricane "Building its own environment" effect.
