SFL/GOM or FL graze and then north

#1 Postby PTPatrick » Sun Aug 29, 2004 9:00 am

I am kinda getting concerned myself at this point. I hate for folks in Florida to have to deal with this thing, but it is begining to look more and more like us folks between New Orleans and Apalachicola should be concerned. The last GFS i saw had it Frances on my doorstep come Labor day...me no likey. :( At any rate...just curious as to what others are thinking. It would seem that if South FL gets hit then a GOM hit is quite possibly. Interesting...I read that if a major cane gets into the Hebert box it will likely hit the US, but that NC and FL both have about the same chance if it does...meanwhile, only about 10% of Hebert box storms get into the gulf...Georges was the main exception I can think of. Andrew cut across as did Betsy but neither of those were Hebert box storms.

Models are indicating a track westward earlier than expected,so I wouldn't discount a GOM visit from Frances just yet.
