Wilmington, NC Skys Looking Wicked

7:35 am and we're getting our first outter squall line from Gaston. This morning the skies turned an eerie orange and now the wind has picked up along with the ominous sound of thunder to the south.

Should be exciting wet day for you...I am noticing some dry air getting drawn in closer to the center..so hopefully things have peaked in overall intensity..

If it's any comfort at all, Charleston is under the gun now and it hasn't been too bad yet. We're not in the right front quadrant, though (and I suppose you may well be).

I would certainly recommend staying out of your car, though. We've got reports of cars getting knocked over, or knocked into ditches, here. My building is not having any trouble standing the storm, but beware of vehicles today. 45 miles per hour sustained winds. Very low visibility, a number of trees down.

We're watching a traffic cam downtown, and just saw evidence of hail too.

Yea, I had to drive around in Charley when it came through here, and that was no fun when the back end of the car started to get lifted up. Don't think the wheels ever left the ground but I swear they sure were trying.

I was in Kinston last week and it appeared that the fields didn't need anymore rain. Saw your Indians play and wins also. Nice complex.

local mets in eastern NC say to expect 3-4 inches of rain. 21 counties are under a flash flood watch.
Sun is out right now, appears to be a nice day.
