Hurricane Charley's official death toll???

#1 Postby crazycajuncane » Sat Aug 28, 2004 2:33 pm

I was just curious to find out about the official death toll. I haven't heard of a final number, but....

http://www.rense.com/general56/charele.htm

and there is another article from a Vietnam Vet who was out there that said they carted off 400+ bodies.

Those mobile home communities were destroyed. Someone please tell me what the official count is. I'm trying to understand this.

I don't see how this could be true, as too many people work and live in the area, and someone would surely talk about it to the press! Isn't this one of those conspiracy theory pages?

Rense.com is indeed one of your less credible news sources... much, much less credible :-)

I was thinking about the supposed "stacks of bodies" and came up with my own theory. Maybe what the people saw were not stacks of bodies.

Maybe they were sheets rolled up or folded or even matresses that were being salvaged. At a quick glance, somebody could mistake them for sheet-wrapped bodies.

In the immediate aftermath of a destructive hurricane, I'm sure a person is overwhelmed with so much going on that they might misinterpret a situation.
