This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

For some reason- Just thought of this question

#1 Postby Stormchaser16 » Fri Aug 27, 2004 1:56 pm

I flushed my toilet and thought of this lol.....

Do all tropical cyclones rotate at the same speed? Or does forward motion/direction/strength or any/all of those have an affect on the actual rotational speed of the system?

Thank you, it is something that just crossed my mind, something so simplistic about a system, yet something so intriguing heh

you can find a point in all cyclones that are going
the exact same speed... if you move out from
the center eventually you fill find the same speed
in all cyclones

i know that sounds simple...

but it is...

Thank you for the response..... so generally there are not systems that rotate exceptionally quick or exceptionally slow?

the variance will be in the center of the storm and the exterior/pariphery of the storm...

yes... you are correct...

It depends on the central pressure and the environment surrounding the storm
