3:30 PM EDT Storm2k Atlantic Tropical Update,Aug 21

#1 Postby cycloneye » Sat Aug 21, 2004 2:28 pm

There are a couple of areas that need to be monitored in the next few days in the North Atlantic Basin.

First there is a tropical wave moving westward thru the eastcentral caribbean sea with a good deal of cloudiness, showers and thunderstorms. But conditions are not favorable at this time for tropical cyclone formation however less shear in the comming days may result in more chances for this wave to organize so all interests in the western caribbean must monitor it closely. The storm2k forecast team will monitor closely this wave and report any changes.

A strong tropical wave located just off west africa this afternoon is moving westward with clouds, showers and a few thunderstorms. This system has the potential to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next few days and the storm2k forecast team will closely monitor it's progress and report any changes.

Elsewhere in the atlantic:Nothing else that worths a mention at this time.

Tropical storm formation is not expected thru sunday.
