7:00 AM CDT ATLANTIC BASIN TROPICAL UPDATE
SATURDAY, AUGUST 21, 2004

Tropical Depression Danielle continues to weaken and meander in a Westerly direction in the Eastern Atlantic about 845 miles Southwest of the Azores Islands. Danielle continues to only be threat to shipping and is expected to continue to slowly dissipate.

A new tropical wave is emerging from the Coast of Africa into the far Eastern Atlantic today. It is quite vigorous and may begin to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next few days as it moves Westward.

A tropical wave is located in the Eastern Caribbean, however conditions are not currently favorable for tropical cyclone development in this area.

Elsewhere in the Atlantic Basin no tropical storm development is expected through Sunday.
