By looking at this Hurricane Beulau could of been a cat5?

Hurricane Bealau might be the 4th cat5 to hit the united states?

Looks like it weakened just before South Texas landfall. Still a VERY impressive hurricane though.

Nope. Beulah was a Cat 3 at landfall. She is briefly rated as a cat 5 over the GOM when she had a 920 mb pressure. However, by the time she made landfall, the pressure had risen to about 945-950 mbs...well outside the cat 5 range. Max winds reported were gusts to 136 mph. There is a lot of confusing data out there about Beulah. Some sites do list her as a Cat 5 at landfall...and some list her as a 1. But...the NHC has her as a 3...which is where she belongs. She probably underwent an eyewall cycle...peaked at 160 mph at the top of the cycle...and then was at the down-side of the cycle when she went inland.

Her claim to fame is the number of tornadoes she produced.
