Tropical Weather Outlook

Statement as of 11:30 am EDT on August 17, 2004

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico...
The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane
Danielle...located in the eastern Atlantic about 1240 miles
southwest of the Azores Islands.

Satellite images indicate that cloudiness and showers between
Jamaica and Honduras are associated with a tropical wave...the
remnants of Tropical Storm Earl. This activity is expected to move
westward rapidly over Central America...primarily Honduras...and
further development...if any...will be limited by land. Additional
information on this weather system can be found in high seas
forecasts issued by the National Weather Service...under AWIPS
header nfdhsfat1 and wmo header fznt01 kwbc.

Shower activity associated with a tropical wave in the far eastern
Atlantic has decreased.

Elsewhere...tropical storm formation is not expected through
Wednesday.

Is it just my eyes failing me, or does that wave appear to be moving slightly WSW, even at that low latitude?
