re: time to stop a forecasted track line

In response to this post, but in a new light, here are my thoughts and this should spawn some different discussion.

I believe that when scenerios such as this occur again, when a hurricane is possibly approaching the US mainland and *could* develop quickly and move erratically, forecasters need to discuss weather models and features to the public in greater detail.

just because some of us are more inclined to science and MET field, does not mean the public are blind to such things.

When there is a huge model dyscrepency, there needs to be a LARGE amount of discussion within media outlets, by the meteorologists, each model, and the consequences to each scenerio.

I am tired of seeing and hearing these 'professional' forecasters, who generally in their own right are experienced and knowledgable, trying to be first-of-all and making bold predictions and/or misleading the public into their own ideas and beliefs.

Situations need to be GENERALIZED and completely HONEST. and the only way to do this is by explaining to the public what THE EXPERTS see and EVERY SCENERIO, so there are NO excuses in any way for what could possibly happen and does not.

I agree completely, give a large area in which the hurricane can hit and explain why all areas are threatened.
