While the destruction/loss of life is awful,

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

another sad aspect of this whole event is something that five or six years ago I never thought I would say. CNN, FOX NEWS, and MSNBC covered Charley much better than TWC.

When Charley was coming onshore, I was glued to CNN and MSNBC. When I briefly flipped to TWC, they were showing the Weekly Planner (or some portion of it). It is a sad day in weather history for many reasons. TWC failing to live up to its reputation is another one of them. It looks like the news channels can cover the weather better than TWC.

I agree. The Weather Channel showed the weekly planner and weekend outlook, which I was very surprised by. I had to wait from 3:10 to 3:30 to find out how strong it was and when it would get where.

twc has an obligation to report the weather of the entire nation to the entire nation. they cannot focus entirely on one storm that has only a regional impact and interest.

Agree... Seems like TWC is (and has been) stuck in a pre-canned format in just about everything they do. Even their local forcasts are almost robotic in nature. Big disappointment - TWC :( I realize the rest of the country is still going about its business, but with such an extreme WX event taking place anywhere in the US, one would think the WX CHANNEL would know how and when to divert themselves from the ordinary. Things that make 'ya go hmmmm...
