EC of Florida needs a HURRICANE Warning

#1 Postby Derek Ortt » Fri Aug 13, 2004 5:20 am

The NHC position is over Jacksonville as an 80KT storm. So why in the world is Jacksonville under a tropical storm warning along with the Georgia coast?

I was kind of wondering that myself. I'm wondering also what kinds of winds to expect in Melbourne today. If some shear is impinging him on the west side now, when will the trough start moving him more NE'erly Derek? NHC still say Tampa for landfall i believe. Not sure about thatunless there's a arc towards JAX.

Good point Derek.Seems like it goes against character for the NHC not to take a "path of least regret" attitude and post...at the very least...H-watches for that area.

I feel as if a warning is needed from daytona to savannah and a watch up to myrtle and south of daytona to melbourne, with a possible extention of the northern watch at 11 to the nc/va border and the warning to cape fear. That's what I would do if I were Mayfield
