local conditions observation thread?

#1 Postby Weatherboy1 » Thu Aug 12, 2004 7:19 pm

I haven't found a thread yet for local observations of conditions, so I decide to start one. Right now, I'm looking to my south from Jupiter, FL. I can see the leading edge of the cloud shield to my south, and lightning leaping amongst the clouds. Winds are basically nil, maybe out of the E at 5-10 mph. But over the next several hours, the first of the winds should start coming. I have done no real preparing for this thing, since it is mostly a west coast of FL problem. But I thought I'd share my observations. Those of you in the strike zone, please post if you can. Thanks.

Weatherboy, I hope for your sake you're right about it being a "west coast" problem. But after Irene, I don't know that anyone in SE FL should think that. I hope you stay safe! Please be careful.

And MW98GT you folks in the Tampa area are much in my prayers.

As for my own weather conditions... I'm in West Africa, somewhat north of where most of the waves come through (so please don't blame ME for Charley...! LOL) but we've got a storm out to our east tonight and lots of lightening here too.

Weatherboy, I see what you are seeing. Here in Juno Beach we are having wicked cloud to ground lightning with no thunder or rain. WEIRD.
