For Those Evacuating to Orlando

#1 Postby SeaBrz_FL » Thu Aug 12, 2004 11:34 am

Hi, Everyone -- Great info and fantastic forum!

Thought I'd mention that many of the hotels on International Drive in Orlando are offering rooms to Florida Residents at very discounted rates. Must show FL id. Saw this on the Orlando news station a little while ago.

Here's a tip from a former desk clerk: when you arrive at a hotel in person and they quote you a rate, try to get a better price! I know first hand that you can talk them down.

I-4 (from Tampa to Orlando) is always bumper to bumper. I don't know how they are going to handle this.

Yes, nice to see they are minding the gouging warnings, but it did help to have tough Orlando Sheriff Kevin Beary on a televised news conference a couple hours ago making it clear that he would have everyone arrested that even attempted gouging.

It's also in the best interest of the hotels to get people in the rooms at any price since many of the tourists are leaving or already left.
