Huge circulation and well defined 1004 mb low in atlantic

Look at that huge circulation in the northeast atlantic but of course nothing will come out of it but only looking at it we would think that it may develop into a tropical system but no favorable conditions are present at that area.

Pretty Impressive ... if anything, it is drifting westward, if not almost stationary.

POWERFUL UPPER LOW IS OVER THE E ATLANTIC NEAR 33N39W WITH A
TROUGH AXIS EXTENDING S ALONG 22N40W SW TO 12N51W. CYCLONIC
FLOW WITHIN 400 NM OF CENTER. UPPER LOW IS MOVING WESTWARD AND
SHOULD TURN NORTHWARD AS IT MEETS THE TROUGH TO ITS W OVER THE
NEXT 12 HOURS. STRONG SUBSIDENCE IS BETWEEN 11N-21N BETWEEN
40W-60W AT THE BASE OF THE TROUGH. RIDGE AXIS IS BETWEEN W ATLC
TROUGH AND E ATLC TROUGH ALONG 18N58W 28N55W TO BEYOND 34N53W
WITH PLENTIFUL HIGH CLOUDS N OF 27N SPILLING OVER THE RIDGE AXIS.

Yes Chad it looks like a tropical system but it is not a warm core one but still it is interesting to see this huge circulation and if this same system were to be in september for sure it would be a tropical system.

Geez Cycloneye! I saw the title of your message and I thought it was an April Fool's joke...for real!

THIS LOW HAS THE BANDED FEATURES LIKE A HURRICANE! An incredible sight for only April...but that low is probably mid-level. The front is also coming eastward to absorb it, but VERY IMPRESSIVE for early April. I'm going to see the shear in that area because the low pressure area looks very-undisturbed. Doesn't look like there is a whole lot of shear going on there.

WOW!

Yes Kevin many who see it think like you but when you see the pics then you realize that is no joke but a real big low out there.

And yes little shear in that area but it will be caught by the front soon but it is very intersting for this time of year to see a well organized system and that is why I posted it.

Well, I have to admit it is a rather impressive low. But actually, these types of lows are not uncommon at this time of year, especially when an El Nino (albeit dying) is present. This one is no where near being tropical, and with a strong frontal trough advancing towards it, I expect the low to be absosrbed within the next 24-36 hours. Thus, no development.

Something to watch nonetheless. It was spotted and with it being April 1st and all... still a feature in the Atlantic with little shear. Will be fun to see what the cold front officially does to it. :)

Already feeling the pressure from the approaching trough. Not quite as well organized as it was earlier today, still very non-tropical and in the mid-levels of the atmosphere. I mean come on, it's thriving in water temps of 65ºF, and is racing against very little time. This baby is, and always has been just a dead hunk of meat.

Rob you agree that nontropical in nature still it is interesting to see those spiral bands and the huge whole circulation.

I have no reason not to agree with you Supercane. 65 degree water temperature cannot support tropical development.

That non tropical low has been absorbed by the front.
