Unbelievable...

#1 Postby hurricanefreak1988 » Mon Aug 02, 2004 10:53 am

...yet AGAIN, NC has been snubbed. Man, I don't think any other state has been teased more than us the last few years :(

But we can put some hope in soon-to-be Bonnie :)

You won't be getting a sniff of anything for awhile if Mr. Trough has anything to say about it.

This system will likely sneak under the trough as did Gloria in 1985 and Be in the Bahamas Sunday

12z GFS has it right on NC coast by tomorrow afternoon. So think it's just going out to sea.

That's the problem, Mr. Trough has always been the culprit when we've been snubbed. GO AWAY, NOBODY WANTS YOU MR. TROUGH :grr:

Uh... I guess you forgot about Isabel, Dennis, Floyd, Bertha, and Fran.

NC has had more hurricane landfalls than any other states in the last few years.

Snubbed? Be thankful for that! I cant imagine all those folks in such a low-lying area are actually looking forward to a hurricane, even a cat 1. I recall several years ago, there was so much rain as far inland as Goldsboro. Flooding resulted and some nasty residue from pig farms was everywhere...

As a current NC resident here, we are definitely NOT looking for another hurricane or tropical storm here. We have had plenty in the past few years (enough for me for my lifetime!) We all like Mr. Trough here.

Alicia,
I think you are referring to Floyd...it flooded low lying areas horribly. My hubby works for the Dept. of Tranportation and he worked and worked and worked. That was the worst flooding I had ever seen around here.

If you had to deal with Floyd and Isabel (like myself) then you wouldn't be saying that.

Oh and it wasn't just pig residue that I seen, it was dead pigsin those waters! It was totally gross and I joked with hubby that working in that water was toxic and he would wake up one morning with extra eyes or arms like a swamp creature. LMAO

Our problem here in Houston is Frontal boundaries and High Pressure. Major storms always end up getting pushed to our west by high pressure, or swept NE by an approaching front. Very fustrating :(

I'm talking about AFTER Floyd. When I said NC, I should've just said my home of Fayetteville, because NC (mostly the OBX) has had quite a few tropical cyclone visits. Isabel's effects weren't really bad here. And Floyd wasn't really overly bad either, considering what the coast felt. But with 91L and 92L out there, that may just change :D

Uh, I guess you weren't around for Alicia and a few others then. Once you have been through the aftermath of a CAT2 or higher(or far that matter almost any)Hurricane, I guarantee you will not be singing the same tune!!!! AFTERMATHS SUCK!!!!! For that matter so does listening to the wind howl and watching and hearing things come apart around you as it floods from too much rain!!!

I live in New Bern, NC and will gladly take being snubbed. Isabel, Dennis, Floyd, Bertha, and Fran... been through them all and I for one would love to see Mr. Trough take up permenant residence on our coast.

I was there for Alica. As I recall I was only 4 or 5 years of age. I was awed by the force of nature at the time. Fortunatly our home was spared from any damage.

Ditto...and I've never even dealt with the aftermath yet.
