Note of interest
NWS here in Washington D.C. says the boundry has hung up over the CWA (Northern Virginia). They even state IR data suggests the boundry may be moving slowly back NW. They are watching dewpoints to support this. It does not look like Alex will get a push from the trough. Yesterday between Fredericksburg and Richmond, we had some nasty storms fire up in a boundry created between the prefrontal trough and Alex.

Then you would be wrong, it is the southwesterly upper levels that will push him out, not the trough.
