There was a weak tropical wave a couple of weeks ago in the SW caribbean that was the first wave to form in the basin. Now we have the first tropical wave to affect Puerto Rico and it has produced heavy showers and a few thunderstorms.I expect flooding to occur as the grounds are oversaturated from last weeks rains which dumped at max around 13 inches.

Dont worrie about me because I am safe and dry where I am. :)

You guys sure have had your share of it this month. Wish we in the Panhandle could get some, especially along the coast!

I hope that the big convective area just south of Puerto Rico stays in open caribbean sea waters and not creep northward because it would be a big flooding event here.

It's been a complete about turn weatherwise in Barbados this year compared to last year. Everywhere is a lush green and lately the skyscape looks more like it's late August than May.

The southeastern Caribbean in general has been quite soggy this year, with many cricket matches being rained out. And the mangoes from my tree aren't as sweet as last year because of high water content.

But I'm not complaining...I love the rain. (That's a rain dance my avatar's doing.)

BRING IT ON, BABY! 8-)

That sounds good that the dry spell from last year has not materialized there this year. :)

An update of what is going on in Puerto Rico is not good especially the outlook thru the weekend.

http://storm2k.nhcwx.com/cgi-bin/hw3.cg ... n&state=PR

A combination of factors will provoke the rain event tropical wave, upper trough, jet stream, and a possible low in the caribbean that indirectly will afect Puerto Rico with more moistere. So a few days of soggy weather is instore for this island.

Interesting things are happening this afternoon as the tropical wave moving slowly now has increased it's coverage of convection but so far NO surface low is seen. This will potentially provoke more rain for Puerto Rico and other islands in the eastern caribbean as the upper moist flow will transport all the humidity from that convective area and I hope that it doesn't hit Puerto Rico directly.

Hello all,

It looks like Barbados and Abajan will be affected by next tropical wave (now approaching the Windward Islands) later Friday into early Saturday with numerous showers and some thunderstorms and locally heavy rain. It may do the same in PR and Cycloneye's area later Saturday night into Sunday night, like you could use any more rain.

Yeah not good news at all for us here as the grounds are oversaturated from 2 weeks of rans with a max of 17 inches and an average of 8 inches so far in that period. The new outlook looks bleak for sunday as the tropical wave will interact with the upper trough and the jet stream.

It looks to me like most of the Caribbean islands will be affected by this.
certainly PR has to watch out since they are overly saturated already.
for us in St. Maarten, well, we have had a drought and we can use the rain. We have had mostly cloudy skies with showers but no deluges.
the tourists are kind of unhappy though :(
and I would love to have some hot water. solar heat doesn't work too well in this kind of weather :-)
