The question is.
Should I change the name of The Barometer Bob Show due to a threatening email I received?
The Barometer Bob Show has been my show for years. I was able to air this show and it has been the issue of a dispute.
As many of you know, my nickname has and always will be Barometer Bob. There are two other Barometer Bob's on this planet, and they are both as I am a weather enthusiast. One is in the Abaco's, and the other is in England.
But, I received an email stating that I would have to make a public statement, relenquish my rights to past broadcasts of The Barometer Bob Show, apologizing for stealing the name of The Barometer Bob Show, and stating I stole the idea, content, and the method to air The Barometer Bob Show. Basically thats what the email said!
Furthermore, I am also suppose to post, and let it remain on my websites throughout the entire hurricane season this statement.
In return my name, nickname, my websites HurricaneHollow.Com and USWeatherWatchers.Com would not receive any slanderous or defamatory words, posts, ect, which would be included in and not limited to other means to communicate on the internet.
Now, everyone that knows me knows I would not do any of these things that I am being accused of. I am honest, and don't care to enhance my standing or to publicize or broadcast during one of my shows a controversal subject.
So, this is why I leave it to you, the listener. Should I change the name of the Barometer Bob Show, and permit extortion, and let the slander and defamation happen?
I will give the results during the next Barometer Bob Show on March 25, 2004 at 9pm/et.

No WAY! The BarometerBob show is YOURS!! Let them post and say what they want! You know its your show and we all know its your show.

I think we all know who is threatening you Bob. He's just an ass and insists on proving it every year. As to the method of airing the show, the way we're doing it now is new! Who the hell does he think he is? The internet broadcast technology has been around for years so that ass doesn't have any rights to it at all. I hope he reads this but he already know what I think of him! :-)

If he wants to start a war of words just let him. With you gone from his sites I'm sure his influence in the weather community will go steadily down hill! :-)

I voted for "No, don't change the name of the show!" seconds before reading your post, practically at the same time I wish to say.

As I mentioned twice before with acknowledgement from one person; I was/am unable to listen to anything online, thus I wasn't able to hear the show, Thursday evening because my speakers from my old computer don't work on the new one.

Bob I am with you 100% on this.Never,never change that name for your show because that is your trademark name for it since the first show came out.Dont let that guy who you may know who he is let you dictate what to do.

I consider myself to be fairly impartial, as I've never heard of Barometer Bob before he appeared here on the forum. A quick search online did reveal another Barometer Bob in the Bahamas, as you mentioned.

An e-mail is definitely NOT an official form of communication. It's not worth the paper it's written on. So you shouldn't act on it alone. Now if you get a certified letter from the other Barometer Bob's lawyer stating that they are beginning legal action against you unless you stop, then that's another story. Since the other Barometer Bobs appear to be small-time weather enthusiasts (and located outside of the U.S.), it's probably unlikely that they would attempt legal action.

So, you might check with a lawyer, but I think you can ignore any e-mails.

I've known you for years now, since you ever got on the 'net. The Show is yours and it was your idea. That peson as far as I'm considered. I would also look into a lawyer as it seems he is attempting to blackmail you.

NO FREAKING WAY. I wish that **# would dry up and blow away. As said before You are Barometer BOB and that is your show. The individual you refer to realizes too late what he has lost. He has always treated people like crap and he has hated our site for no reason. Thats why I stopped posting on the board on HH and going in the chat. I am sure I am not the only one. I tried to be nice to him and explain there is room for all of us on the net and he was just a jerk. I say again NO!!!! Leave the show the same. If he doesn't like it he can ride the next cane poleward!! Case closed.
