Overnight we picked up 97S…

:rarrow: A) TS 02-W (02W): at 20/1902Z...
Position near 14.8N 124.6E (270nm E of Manila, Philippines)
Movement toward the NW at 7 mph
Maximum sustained winds are 50 mph
Minimum central pressure is 991 mb
T# numbers: 2.5/2.5

02W is slowly coming together. Expect some slight strengthening as 02w skirts the northern Philippines for the next couple of days. Regardless, 02W has some slightly weakening convection. Should this system receive its name, it will be Sudal.

:rarrow: B) TC Fay (18S): at 20/1825Z...
Position near 13.6S 123.6E (495nm NE of Port Hedland, Australia)
Movement toward the WSW at 5 mph
Maximum sustained winds are 115 mph
Minimum central pressure is 944 mb
T# numbers: 5.5/5.5

Fay is still gathering strength as she marches through the Timor Sea. Expect continued strengthening for most of the period. Fay is forecast to reach peak intensity toward the end of the forecast period as she is forecasted to become a 140 mph cyclone.

:rarrow: C) Invest (95P): at 20/1825Z...
Position near 16.0S 145.8E (50nm NE of Cairns, Australia)
Maximum sustained winds are 30 mph
Minimum central pressure is 1002 mb
Potential for development: Fair

95P is slowly coming together along the northern Australian coast. With the weakening shear aloft and favorable environment, expect 95P to potentially become a cyclone within the next few days. We’ll have to stay tuned.

Position near 13.3S 142.6E
Maximum sustained winds are 15 mph
Minimum central pressure is 1006 mb

Last night’s invest is still located in the Gulf of Carpentaria. With its close proximity to land, no guidance has been issued by the JTWC. Regardless, we’ll still have to monitor this invest.

:rarrow: E) Invest (97S): at 20/1930Z...
Position near 12.0S 102.0E
Maximum sustained winds are 15 mph

The new invest for today is located between the Cocos Islands and Christmas Island. This system has the possibility to grow with plenty of open waters ahead of it. We’ll have to stay tuned.
