Tropical Update: 13 Mar

#1 Postby senorpepr » Sat Mar 13, 2004 9:55 pm

NRL Monterey is back up, but most of the products are only. Please be advised.

Hopefully I'll get back on schedule with doing these during the morning...

:rarrow: A) Nicky-Helma (17S): At 13/1500Z...
Position near 23.1S 84.2E (975nm SW of Cocos Islands)
Movement toward the SSE at 12 mph
Maximum sustained winds are 35 mph
T# numbers: 1.0/1.5

The JTWC has issued their final advisory on Nicky-Helma as she is dissipating over water.

:rarrow: B) Invest (98S): At 13/1800Z...
Position near 13.4S 96.4E (75nm SSW of Cocos Islands)
Maximum sustained winds are 25 mph
Minimum central pressure is 1001 mb

98S still is present and is mentioned in JTWC’s ABIO. They give 98S a poor chance at development under moderate shear, but good divergence aloft.

:rarrow: C) Invest (99S): At 13/1800Z...
Position near 23.8S 50.2E (335nm SSE of Antananarivo, Madagascar)
Maximum sustained winds are 30 mph
Minimum central pressure is 1001 mb

The invest formally known as Gafilo is still meandering in the Indian Ocean. The JTWC has cancelled their TCFA on this system as the low-level circulation becomes less organized under decreasing convection. Expect a poor chance at redevelopment out of 99S.
