Tropical Update: 12 Mar

#1 Postby senorpepr » Fri Mar 12, 2004 11:45 pm

Not only NRL Monterey is down, so is the ATCF. Errr! Looks like NRL might be coming back soon. Hopefully…

:rarrow: A) TC Nicky-Helma (17S): At 13/0300Z...
Position near 21.1S 83.8E (900nm SW of Cocos Islands)
Movement toward the SW at 11 mph
Maximum sustained winds are 50 mph
T# numbers: 1.0/2.0

Nicky-Helma is expected to continue weakening. The forecast has dissipation occurring before 36 hours.

:rarrow: B) Invest (98S):

98S, formally known as TC Evan, is out there. …or maybe not. The JTWC dropped mention of 98S in the ABIO. Additionally, NRL isn’t online. If they were, I could tell you something about it.

:rarrow: C) Invest (99S): At 12/2300Z...
Position near 22.5S 46.4E (200nm S of Antananarivo)
Maximum sustained winds are 35 mph
Minimum central pressure is 1000 mb
T# numbers: 1.0/1.0

Once again, with limited data I can’t really tell you much here. 99S is associated with a TCFA issued by the JTWC. I believe this system is the remnants of Gafilo. Regardless, JTWC says there is a good chance at development.
