This event took place on the 3rd of march and now the question is how much of that dust will prevail all the way to the caribbean but being march it is early to see this event happen and more reaching the western hemisphere.

Chad let's see what happens when the peak of the hurricane season arrives and those big waves exciting africa do if the SAL is present or not to not let them develop.The SAL factor is one of the important ones to look at to see how the systems can survive thar dry air in the atlantic if it is going to be a factor.

well, according to this, some of that African dust is now starting to reach us. this is a current weather synopsis for St. Maarten:
A high pressure ridge continues to influence the weather across the Northeastern Caribbean maintaining a mostly dry and stable atmosphere today. Some cloud patches over the Atlantic, East of the Caribbean will move with the trade winds Sunday morning over the islands, causing at times a few light showers. African dust has reached the Northeastern Caribbean and this will cause locally hazy conditions during the next few days.
