Tropical Update: 05 Mar

#1 Postby senorpepr » Fri Mar 05, 2004 11:48 am

:rarrow: A) Ex-TC Evan (15P): At 05/1530Z...
Position near 18.6S 118.5E (175nm NNE of Port Hedland, Australia)
Maximum sustained winds are 30 mph
Minimum central pressure is 1002 mb

The remnant low-level circulation of Evan has moved off the Australian coast, but remains poorly defined. There is a fair chance for Evan to redevelop.

:rarrow: B) TC Gafilo (16S): At 05/1530Z...
Position near 14.0S 56.0E (400nm N of Mauritius)
Movement toward the WSW at 8 mph
Maximum sustained winds are 125 mph
Minimum central pressure is 933 mb
T# numbers: 5.5/5.5

Gafilo continues to track toward Madagascar. At this time, Gafilo should be at maximum strength. As Gafilo approaches land, expect decreased outflow to help weakening the punch. Current satellite reveals a 15nm eye.
