Isabel One Of The State's Costliest Storms Top Stories

(Undated) -- The bill left by Hurricane Isabel is one of the highest in the history of Virginia. State officials say the total for cleanup and rebuilding has topped $1.6 billion and expenses are expected to continue climbing. The "Daily Press" reports that throughout the state, 1,145 homes were destroyed. About 75 percent of them were in southeastern Virginia. On the Peninsula alone, the cost of repairing and replacing damaged and destroyed homes is about $200 million. The estimates are based on data provided by localities to the Virginia Department of Emergency Management.

You are right
Isabel cost me 2 weeks pay due to my job not having power. But I, unlike may others, had a job to go back to. Many businesses were destroyed here and in NC leaving countless folks having to deal with the aftermath of a hurricane, and having no income. In the 40 years I have lived here this is the I worst disaster experienced.
