Well, exposed or not, that's the first definitive sign of a center I've seen on her.

Earlier this season, the NHC wouldn't have upgraded something as pathetic as this to a TD, much less a TS. Recon hasn't found anything to support TS-force surface winds in the past few hours. At most, Mindy is a poorly-organized and highly-sheared TD. I doubt that tiny vortex will be around in 12-24 hours.

Mindy the phanthom storm

One of the NHC discussions on Mindy yesterday mentioned "low level clouds moving west away from the center" in the northwest quadrant. and that the low level circulation there "wasnt very well defined". Doesnt sound like a true closed circulation to me. Looking at the sattelite loop I really dont see much evidence of a closed low either. What I do see is a poorly organized system with litlte or no low level circulation. Also it appears to already be getting sheared to pieces; also it doesnt appear tropical to me.

11pm NHC DISC

It is possible that Mindy will not
survive the strong shear today.

It's a very small, tight little circulation swirl (however on latest imagery it's tucking under some deeper convection - or convection is being generated once again obscuring the LLCC.

Very dramatic closeup loop of Mindy 1km.

Seems like a little of both. LLCC certainly isn't exposed anymore though.

It does appear that the center is getting under the deeper convection in the last several frames :o . Does appear to be getting a little better orqanized as it moves northward. :D
