Report from Puerto Rico about effects of wave/TD/Mindy

#1 Postby cycloneye » Fri Oct 10, 2003 5:29 pm

First I will say that I was without power for almost 8 hours as a transformer blew up near my location caused by a gust of 34 mph from a severe thunderstorm that moved thru San Juan.But now power is back and I can report what has happened in Puerto Rico. :)

Here are some of the the rainfall totals as of 6:00 PM EDT

Gurabo=7.05 inches
Yabucoa=7.00 inches
Las Piedras=6.90 inches
Cayey=5.60 inches
Ponce=5.10 inches
Cabo Rojo=4.89 inches
Mayaguez=3.78 inches

Those are a few places that I got observations.

There haved been some mudslides to roads but no bad news from those.Some flooding has occured in various places and 12 families in Guayama are incomunicated because a bridge collapsed.No fatalities haved been reported at this hour and that is good news.

Why I say that we were affected by a wave/TD and Mindy well because the first effects that Puerto Rico felt was from a strong wave ,then this morning I consider that it was a TD when it was just SW of Cabo Rojo the low pressure and now this evening it is now Mindy with a tail affecting the west coast of the island.

So in general Puerto Rico has fared well from this event that could haved been worse but thankfully it wasn't :)
