JB Gives Up on NE Movement

#1 Postby wxman57 » Fri Oct 03, 2003 8:50 am

Just watched Joe's morning discussion. He's given up on the idea that the ridge over Cuba will remain stronger and drive Larry NE toward Florida as a hurricane. Any northward movement should have started by now. Joe said the upper low north of Panama/Venezuela is helping to break down that ridge over Cuba, and the ridge W-NW of Larry is taking over. This will drive Larry S-SW into Mexico and possibly into the EPAC.

Well nothing more to add.Perry you are vindicated with your position from the start going into Mexico. And myself too had that position as the synoptic pattern didn't favor a US threat from the getgo.

Did Joe B. have any other thoughts? Or did he put a fork in the Hurricane season?

Perry? Maybe you're responding to the wrong post. My name isn't Perry.

Well, he said Kate probably has 125-130 mph winds now and is a Cat 3. He also suggested Kate could impact Newfoundland as a tropical system rather than ET.

No mention of any other development.

Thanks. I'm still watching the Western Caribbean. NOGAPS and GFS want to play with a disturbance near Western Cuba/South Florida at 144. Just wondering if he mentioned it. 8-)

Actually JB did write in his column this morning that we are in the midst of an Atlantic basin active or "pulsing" period and that next week, there might be something brewing again in the Caribbean.

Well, with JB on board I can't see how Larry would do anything else but go into Mexico.
