Tale of Two Larry's

#1 Postby Steve H. » Thu Oct 02, 2003 11:37 am

Well, sort of. 12Z GFS Keeps Larry in the BOC close to the Yucatan through 144, but again similar to the 0z Canadian, sheds a piece of his energy to the east and develops a low that crosses South Central FL day 4, and wants to develop somewhere near the Palm Beaches. Typical for Leisure Suit Larry, Mexico or the Palm Beaches  , as high builds down from the mid west. But the GFS still keeps energy in the BOC. The Canadian 0z brings a larger piece of Larry to the west coast of Florida, and runs it up the coast, as a strengthening low. 6z GFDL is interesting (no 12 yet) as it brings Larry inland into Mexico almost to Guatamala, then swings him back almost into the BOC, but where is beyond the last frame. Cheers!!

Steve, I say he fades away right where he is. Nowhere to run and just about any direction (other than south) is hostile. Really feel like not much threat to anyone. Conditions are just against Larry.

Larry's like a football running back trapped between three all-pro LB's and the sideline....either way he goes, he's going down.

Nice analogy! And quite accurate, IMO. :)

Larry or any "piece" of Larry is part of the whole observation of the system. From time to time energy from tropical cyclones become something new to monitor for potential development.

Looks like another one of those phantom TC's being spun up by CMC.
