In the tenth observation they can put out a vortex message but the question continues to be if the system has detached from the front and if so then it can develop but if otherwise nothing will happen but they are still flying in the area so let's see what else they can find.

10th observation, NOT 10 tries

The vortex message was the 10th message, NOT the 10th attempt to find a center...actually, the center was found VERY quickly....looking at the flight path, the Hunters went almost directly to the center and found it almost immediately upon arrival...Great Job Hunters!

Well, the big question is what will the NHC do? Today's vortex message indicates higher pressure and lower winds than yesterday evening's. And the low is still attached to the front.

Ah, but there's one thing you're not taking into consideration - what I call (just invented it) the "Clamor Factor". Rig operators in the NW Gulf and BOC are now being told by private weather providers that a system with TS-force winds is in the BOC. They already know that winds are up to 40-60 mph (they've sent me pictures of 15-20 ft waves). These oil companies are "clamoring" that they can't pull people off rigs without incurring a huge cost (can't use insurance to pay) unless the NHC names it. Basically, they're being pounded out there and don't understand the technical details concerning why a TS-force low isn't named a TS.

So who knows what the NHC will do. Recon just found a wind 290/49kts with an estimated 45kt sfc wind.

It is sorta like polictics. My ex husband works offshore and the oil companies will not pull men from the rig until the NHC has officially named a system due to insurance restrictions. It is a money thing!! :?
